Job summary

The Port of London Authority is seeking a Marine Engineering Technician (Multi-Skilled) to perform mechanical and electrical maintenance on PLA vessels and shore facilities. The role requires work across diesel engines, propulsion, hydraulics, and electrical systems, with involvement in vessel refits and project installations.

The successful candidate will mentor apprentices and support continuous improvement within the Marine Engineering team, with some out-of-hours call-outs and training

Qualifications

• Advanced Apprenticeship leading to an HNC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with diesel engines and vessel mechanical systems.
• Competent IT skills including CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive mechanical and electrical maintenance on PLA vessels and shore facilities.
• Diagnose faults and repair across marine engineering systems.
• Support vessel refits and installation projects.
• Supervise contractors and provide relief cover as Ship's Engineer.
