Job summary

Rainbows Children's Hospice in the East Midlands is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join the Estates & Facilities team. This hands-on role ensures our hospice and grounds remain safe, welcoming and maintained to high standards for children, families and staff.

The position requires experience in property/plant/electrical/engineering/plumbing or grounds maintenance, a full UK driving licence, and the ability to work independently within health and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance and repair across property, plant, electrical, engineering, plumbing or grounds maintenance.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Knowledge of safe working practices and relevant regulations.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage workloads and priorities.
• Experience supervising contractors or volunteers.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing demands.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the hospice site.
• Delivering a professional maintenance service across buildings, grounds and surrounding areas using Fiix.
• Identifying and resolving maintenance and facilities issues in a proactive and timely manner.
• Participating in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.
• Supervising contractors, volunteers and grounds maintenance staff when required.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with health and safety legislation and Rainbows policies.
