Job summary

Ruth Wagstaff Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer for a highly automated manufacturing operation in Telford. You will maintain production equipment, support performance and drive improvements on site.

You will carry out PPM, respond to breakdowns, diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, and support CI initiatives to improve machine reliability and OEE. Collaborative work with cross-functional teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification from an approved program (apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent).
• Experience in fast-paced manufacturing or production environments.
• Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience with PLC-controlled machinery and automated equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across manufacturing equipment and site services.
• Respond to breakdowns promptly to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve reliability and OEE.
• Assist with installation, commissioning and modification of machinery.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Ensure all work complies with health, safety and environmental standards.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality and Engineering teams to support objectives.

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established and highly automated manufacturing operation based in Telford. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a modern production environment where continuous improvement, reliability, and engineering excellence are at the forefront of the business.

As a key member of the Engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining production equipment, supporting operational performance, and driving improvements across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities across manufacturing equipment and site services.
• Respond to breakdowns in a timely manner to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency.
• Diagnose and repair both electrical and mechanical faults.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving machine reliability and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
• Assist with installation, commissioning, and modification of machinery and equipment.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to support operational objectives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• A recognised Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent).
• Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong fault-finding skills across both electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery and automated equipment.
• Knowledge of motors, drives, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and control systems.
• A proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
