Job summary

Hunter Selection is recruiting a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer for a well-established and highly automated manufacturing operation in Telford. You will maintain production equipment, support operational performance and drive improvements across the site.

This role involves carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns, diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults, and working with PLC-controlled machinery to boost OEE.

Qualifications

  • Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent)
  • Experience in fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong fault-finding across electrical and mechanical systems; PLC knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on equipment and site services
  • Respond to breakdowns promptly to minimise downtime
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to boost OEE
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and modification of machinery
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records
  • Ensure all work meets health, safety and environmental standards
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality and Engineering teams

Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer

Telford, Shropshire

Salary: £49,516 per annum

Shift: 3 Shift Rotation (Monday to Friday)

Contract: Permanent | Full Time

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established and highly automated manufacturing operation based in Telford. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a modern production environment where continuous improvement, reliability, and engineering excellence are at the forefront of the business.

As a key member of the Engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining production equipment, supporting operational performance, and driving improvements across the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities across manufacturing equipment and site services.
  • Respond to breakdowns in a timely manner to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Diagnose and repair both electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving machine reliability and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and modification of machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to support operational objectives.
About You
  • A recognised Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent).
  • Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong fault-finding skills across both electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery and automated equipment.
  • Knowledge of motors, drives, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and control systems.
  • A proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
