Job summary

Southern Housing is seeking a versatile multi-trade technician for its Direct Services Reactive Repairs team. You will work in residents' homes performing basic plumbing, carpentry, plastering, tiling and related tasks, while prioritising first-time fixes and safety compliance.

The role is field-based with a shared 24-hour emergency call-out rota, requiring a valid UK driving licence and basic DBS check. You will manage your workload and contribute to excellent customer outcomes.

Qualifications

• Trade qualifications at City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 and/or Level 3, or equivalent experience across several trades.
• Experience delivering repairs and maintenance across different trades.
• Full UK driving licence with up to six points.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of reactive repairs across residents' homes, including basic plumbing, carpentry, patch plastering, tiling and general maintenance.
• Manage own daily workload to meet service targets.
• Deliver work right first time.
• Keep residents informed throughout the repair process.

Southern Housing's Direct Services Reactive Repairs team needs a versatile multi-trade technician, reporting to a lead technician. The work covers a wide range of responsive repairs in residents' homes, such as basic plumbing, carpentry, patch plastering and tiling, done right first time. It is field based, with a 24-hour emergency call out rota shared on a fair, planned basis. Candidates need a full UK driving licence with at most six points and two years' driving experience, plus a basic DBS check.

What’s required

Qualifications

• Trade qualifications at City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 and/or Level 3, or equivalent experience across several trades

Experience

• Proven track record in a Direct Labour Service or similar repairs environment
• Experience delivering repairs and maintenance across different trades

Skills & knowledge

• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, building regulations and safe systems of work
• Diagnosing faults and delivering a first time fix where possible
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including working with vulnerable residents

Checks & eligibility

• Full UK driving licence with no more than six points
• No serious motoring offences in the last 10 years, such as CD, DD, DG, DR, IN, MR or TT
• Minimum of two years driving experience
• Basic DBS check
