Job summary

VIVID is seeking a skilled Multi-Trade Operative to join the Repairs Team in North Hampshire, based at the Basingstoke office. The role is full-time (39 hours) with shifts 8:00–16:30 or 10:00–18:30 and on-call duties for emergencies.

You will perform repairs across occupied properties in carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating, with light admin and use of handheld devices to log progress.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds NVQ L2/3 (or equivalent) in a trade
• Experience in at least two core trades (e.g. plumbing, carpentry)
• Experience with UPVC repairs/installation as part of a multi-trade role
• Strong customer-service skills and professionalism in occupied homes
• Full clean driving licence (held for at least 1 year) and DBS check

Responsibilities

• Carry out repairs across occupied properties in carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating
• Use handheld device to manage job tickets and update progress
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and building regulations
• Maintain professional communication with customers and colleagues

Job description

Role Overview

We’re looking for skilled Multi-Trade Operatives to join our dedicated Repairs Team in North Hampshire, based out of our Basingstoke office. This is a full‑time, permanent role, working 39 hours per week delivering high‑quality repairs and maintenance works across our social housing properties. You will work 8:00 am–4:30 pm or 10:00 am–6:30 pm shifts, and participate in the emergency on‑call rota as required.

Key Responsibilities

As a multi‑trade operative you’ll carry out a variety of repairs to occupied properties, using your specialist skills and initiative to deliver a high standard of work. Light admin duties and the use of an electronic handheld device are part of the role.

• Carpentry – doors, skirting, architraves, locks, windows, kitchen units
• Plumbing – tap replacements, unblocking sinks, WC repairs, leak detection
• Plastering & Making Good – patch repairs to walls and ceilings
• Tiling & Decorating – restoring finishes to a high standard
• General maintenance – fencing, gates, flooring, minor roofing, external repairs
• Use handheld devices to manage job tickets and update progress
• Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and building regulations
• Maintain professional communication with customers and colleagues
• Manage van stock, tools, and materials effectively
• Participate in emergency call‑out rota when required

Qualifications and Experience

• City & Guilds NVQ Level 2/3 (or equivalent) in a trade discipline, or relevant experience
• Proven experience in a multi‑trade or general maintenance role and competent in at least two core trades (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, plastering, painting)
• Demonstrable experience in UPVC repairs and installation, alongside competent carpentry skills as part of a multi‑trade maintenance role
• Strong customer‑service skills and experience working in occupied homes with professionalism
• Adherence to safety and safeguarding policies is essential

A full, clean current driving licence (held for at least 1 year) is required for driving a company van, together with a DBS check.
