Job summary

Mears Group PLC in Newcastle is seeking a talented Multi-Skilled Operative to support a busy responsive repairs contract. You will carry out day-to-day repairs across carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating, with a focus on safety, quality and customer service in residents’ homes.

Working 42.5 hours per week, 8-5 Monday to Friday, you’ll need a full UK driving licence, the ability to work independently and a positive, adaptable approach to multiple trades.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating).
• Experience in roofing duties.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day responsive repairs across occupied and void social housing properties.
• Roofing duties.
• Replacing or repairing skirting boards, architraves and internal door frames.
• Installing and adjusting kitchen units, worktops and cupboard doors.
• Repairing or replacing internal doors, handles, locks and hinges.
• Identifying and fixing minor plumbing issues such as leaks or drips.
• Carrying out patch plastering and making good damaged walls or ceilings.
• Inspecting and repairing roofs (flat and pitched).
• Painting and decorating to a professional finish after repairs.
• Ensuring all repairs are completed safely and to a high standard.
• Working in occupied homes with consideration for residents’ needs.
• Reporting further works or safeguarding concerns beyond scope.
• Delivering excellent customer service in residents’ homes.
• Recording job details and materials used on handheld devices or job sheets.
• Maintaining tools, equipment and company vehicle.
