Job summary

Mears Group PLC is seeking a Multi-Skilled Operative to support a busy responsive repairs contract in Tower Hamlets and across the UK. You will perform carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating tasks in occupied social housing, ensuring safety, quality and resident satisfaction.

You will work 42.5 hours per week (8-5, Monday–Friday) with a view to delivering high‑quality repairs on time and to a professional standard.

Qualifications

Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating).
Full UK driving licence is required.
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Excellent customer service, especially in occupied homes.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work.

Responsibilities

Carry out day-to-day responsive repairs across occupied social housing properties.
Replace or repair skirting boards, architraves, and internal doors.
Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops, and cupboard doors.
Repair or replace doors, handles, locks, and hinges.
Identify and fix minor plumbing issues.
Carry out plastering and decorating to a professional finish.
Record job details and materials used using handheld devices.
Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle.
