Job summary

Mars Petcare is seeking a proactive Multi-Skilled Engineer at the Castle Cary site to maximise plant reliability, efficiency and safety across production and packaging lines.

The role supports a 32-hour week with alternating weekend shifts, including nights and days. Mars offers a welcome bonus, performance bonuses, private healthcare, pension, life assurance and generous annual leave, plus on-site perks and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Approved apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, ONC, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Hands-on experience performing electrical and mechanical maintenance, fault-finding and diagnostics in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines including Permit to Work, LOTO and risk assessments.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills with clear communication of technical handovers.
• Own transport is essential due to site location.

Responsibilities

• Planned & reactive maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Ensure safety, quality and regulatory compliance across site.
• Identify opportunities to improve machine performance and reduce waste.
• Maintain maintenance logs and deliver clear shift handovers.
