Job summary

Mars Petcare's Castle Cary facility is seeking a proactive Multi-Skilled Engineer to ensure maximum plant reliability, efficiency and safety across production and packaging lines. You will deliver planned maintenance and rapid breakdown responses while working with operations to drive continuous improvement.

The role requires an approved apprenticeship/NVQ Level 3/ONC in mechanical or electrical engineering, and own transport is essential to access the site.

Qualifications

• Approved apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, ONC, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Multi-Skilled Competency: hands-on maintenance, fault-finding, diagnostics in manufacturing.
• Safety First Mindset: follow HSE guidelines, Permit to Work, LOTO, risk assessments.
• Communication & Collaboration: strong interpersonal skills, clear handovers to operations.
• Own transport is essential due to the site location.

Responsibilities

• Planned & Reactive Maintenance: perform scheduled PPMs and rapid fault diagnosis/repair to minimize downtime.
• Safety & Compliance Leadership: support safety and quality standards; comply with Mars policies and UK regulations.
• Continuous Improvement: identify opportunities to optimize machine performance and layouts; implement technical solutions.
• Collaboration & Documentation: maintain CMMS logs and deliver clear shift handovers for weekday teams.
