Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited in Carmarthen (Porthyrhyd area) is hiring a Multi Skilled Operative to join a busy quarry and asphalt plant team. You will work alongside colleagues to deliver quality material on time, operate heavy mobile plant, and help maintain safety, environmental and quality standards on site.

The role requires practical plant experience, good communication and timekeeping, and a flexible, motivated approach. A UK driving licence is preferred; a shovel licence is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in an Industrial/Factory environment or as a labourer.
• Good communication skills and flexible teamwork.
• Willingness to develop operative and supervisory skills.
• Shovel licence is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy mobile plant including loading shovel and excavator.
• Support daily/weekly production targets with the team.
• Ensure safety, health, and environmental policies are followed.
• Maintain plant and assist in maintenance regimes.
• Keep site housekeeping to a high standard.

As well as Porthyrhyd and Carmarthen this site is accessible from Llanelli, Gorslas, Ammanford, Gorseinon, Swansea, Morriston, Neath, Ystradgynlais, Port Talbot, Lampeter, Newcastle Emlyn, St Clears, Haverfordwest, Narberth, Tenby and the surrounding areas.Here at Tarmac, we are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds, therefore prior technical experience isn’t always necessary for success.Role ResponsibilityReporting directly to the Section Manager the duties of the Multi Skilled Operative are part of a key team of Operatives producing dry aggregates material for the construction industry. As well as delivering best in class Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance for our Plant operations.Your role as a Multi Skilled Operative will include:Working with other members of the team to ensure that customers get good quality material and on-time deliveriesOperating heavy mobile plant, excavators, dump trucks and front end loadersAssisting the Supervisor with meeting daily/weekly production targetsEnsuring Plant conforms with safety requirements at all timesHealth, Safety, Environmental and Quality responsibilitiesFollowing Health, Safety and Environmental policies and proceduresInspections on the Plant and acting on defects and implement remedial actionAssisting in the maintenance regime of the PlantEnsuring that Plant availability is maximisedWorking to keep housekeeping around site to a high standardThe Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate for the role of Multi Skilled Operative will be able to demonstrate proven experience working within an Industrial, Factory or similar environment as an operative or labourer.
