Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited is recruiting a Multi Skilled Operative to join the team at Ravelrig Quarry in Midlothian. You will operate fixed and mobile plant to support safe, efficient daily operations and help deliver high‑quality materials to customers.

The ideal candidate has experience in an industrial environment, a full UK driving licence, and is keen to learn and develop supervisory skills. Training and progression opportunities are offered within a supportive team setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial or factory operational environment.
• Willing to develop supervisory skills.
• Experience in quarry/asphalt plant beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate fixed and mobile plant including loading shovel and dump trucks.
• Support daily and weekly production targets.
• Ensure plant operates safely, efficiently and remains available.
• Perform routine plant inspections and report defects.
• Assist with basic plant maintenance.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance.
• Keep site housekeeping to a high standard.
• Communicate issues clearly to the Supervisor and wider team.

, easily accessible from Edinburgh and surrounding areas. Working as part of a multi-skilled site team,you’llsupport the safe and efficient day-to-day running of the quarry,operatingboth fixed and mobile plant to help deliver high-quality materials to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Operate fixed and mobile plant including

loading shoveland dump trucks

Carry out

Support daily and weekly production targets

Ensure plantoperatessafely, efficiently andremainsavailable

Perform routine plant inspections and report or act on defects

Assistwith basic plant maintenance

Maintainhigh standardsof

health, safety, environmental and quality compliance

Keep site housekeeping to a high standard

Communicate issues clearly to the Supervisor and wider team

The Ideal Candidate

We’relooking for a motivated individual with experience in an industrial, factory or similar operational environment, who takes pride in their work and communicates effectively with others. You’llbe keen to learn, adaptable in your approach, and motivated to develop both operational and supervisory skills.

Experience within a quarry or asphalt plant would bebeneficial butisn’tessential —we’recommitted to supporting and training the right person.

To succeed in thisrole we would expect a candidate to evidence:

Knowledge of Plant

Good timekeeping – flexible as to the Units requirements

Good communicationskills – bringing problems to the attention of Line Management

Previousexperience in mobile Plant operations

Full UK Driving Licence

IT Literate
