Job summary

AG Barr Group is hiring an Engineering Technician for an on-site, permanent role in Milton Keynes. The position involves maintaining and improving automated production lines with rotating 3 on/3 off shifts.

The successful candidate will have an engineering apprenticeship and a Level 3 engineering qualification, with proven practical and diagnostic skills to support high-volume manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Time-served engineering apprenticeship completed.
• Recognised Level 3 engineering qualification (electrical, mechanical, or multi-skilled).
• Proven practical engineering competence in high-volume automated manufacturing.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability across complex automated machinery.
• Self-motivated, methodical approach with ability to work independently or in shift teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain rigorous safety, health and hygiene standards across maintenance and machine operation tasks.
• Execute planned maintenance programs, downtime analysis, and rapid breakdown response on automated production lines.
• Perform root-cause diagnosis across PLC-controlled machinery, servo drives, mechanical systems and packaging equipment.
• Drive continuous improvement by using lean techniques and reliability-focused technologies.
• Analyse wastage and equipment reliability data to prevent recurring issues.
• Source replacement components accurately by consulting manuals and drawings.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and HS&E teams to optimise line efficiency.
