Job summary

A.G. Barr is seeking an Engineering Technician in Milton Keynes on a permanent on-site basis. You will maintain safety standards, execute planned maintenance and quickly respond to breakdowns across fast-paced automated lines.

The role requires a time-served engineering apprenticeship and a Level 3 qualification, with proven experience in high-volume manufacturing. You will diagnose faults, drive continuous improvement and collaborate with production, quality and HS&E teams.

Qualifications

• Time-served engineering apprenticeship completed.
• Level 3 engineering qualification (electrical, mechanical, or multi-skilled).
• Proven practical engineering competence in high-volume automated manufacturing.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities across complex machinery.
• Self-motivated, methodical, able to work in shift teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain rigorous safety, health and hygiene standards across maintenance and machine operation tasks.
• Execute planned maintenance programs, downtime analysis, and rapid breakdown response on fast-paced automated production lines.
• Perform root-cause diagnosis across PLC-controlled machinery, servo drives, mechanical systems, and automated packaging equipment.
• Drive continuous improvement by integrating lean techniques and adopting emerging reliability-focused technologies.
• Analyse wastage and equipment reliability data to proactively prevent recurring operational issues.
• Source replacement components accurately by consulting technical manuals and complex mechanical drawings.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, and HS&E teams to optimise overall line efficiency.

Base Salary: £45,000 with a 35% shift allowance

Shifts: This role is 3 on 3 off rotational shifts between day shift and night shift

Your responsibilities will include...

What you'll bring...

The successful candidate will have;

• A completed, time-served engineering apprenticeship.
• A recognised Level 3 engineering qualification (electrical, mechanical, or multi-skilled).
• Proven practical engineering competence within a high-volume, automated manufacturing environment.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability across complex, automated machinery.
• A self-motivated, methodical approach with the ability to work independently or within shift teams.

And it would also be great if you can demonstrate:

• Experience within FMCG, food and beverage, packaging, or pharmaceutical sectors (particularly on Krones or Tetra Pak lines).
• An electrical or multi-skilled bias (including 18th Edition certification if electrically focused).
• A forward-thinking, proactive mindset centered on asset reliability, predictive maintenance, and modern technology.
