Job summary

Cranswick Gourmet Kitchen, a leading UK food manufacturer, is seeking a motivated Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join the Hull site on a 12-hour night shift (4 on/4 off). You will focus on reducing downtime, improving equipment, and supporting new installations, with involvement in commissioning of new plants.

Ideal candidates will have an HNC/NVQ Level 3 in engineering, be electrically biased or fully multi-skilled, and possess experience in fast-paced food FMCG environments.

Qualifications

• Experience in food FMCG (preferred) in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• HNC/NVQ Level 3 in engineering discipline is required.
• Electrically biased or fully multi-skilled maintenance capability is essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain machinery and equipment to optimum standards with minimal downtime.
• Provide rapid response to breakdowns and complete known jobs efficiently.
• Ensure efficient usage of spare parts, consumables, and equipment.
• Maintain open communication with Production Department and key stakeholders.
• Escalate issues with management across engineering functions.
• Support daily start-ups in production and contribute to planned preventive maintenance.

The Company

Cranswick Gourmet Kitchen is a state-of-the-art food manufacturing facility based in Hull, and forms part of Cranswick plc. They are one of the UK's leading and most responsible food producers, renowned for supplying premium fresh and added-value food products to major retailers and foodservice customers.

The Role

We are looking for a motivated, Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with extensive experience working within food manufacturing environments to join our team at ‘the Gourmet Kitchen’ to work 12 hours 4 on 4 off night shift. The role will focus on maximising efficiencies by ensuring manufacturing downtime is minimised by continuously striving to improve the equipment to meet the operational needs of the business. As an experienced multi-skilled engineer, you will resolve engineering issues and will be involved in the commissioning and implementation of new equipment at the site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain machinery and equipment to optimum standards safely with minimum downtime


• Provide a rapid response to breakdown situations and utilise time effectively to ensure known jobs are completed in a succinct timeframe


• Ensure the efficient usage of spare parts, consumables, and equipment


• Maintain open and constructive lines of communication with the Production Department


• Liaise and escal with all levels of management across all functions relating to engineering activities.


• Any administrative duties as required in the fulfilment of the engineering plan


• To decrease time lost due to breakdowns


• Satisfactory completion of the Planned Preventive Maintenance schedule


• Risk assesses all jobs to reduce the risk to health and safety issues in your area


• Responsible for the ongoing support of daily ‘start-ups’ in the production area


• Support the learning and development of the apprentices

Requirements, experience and person specification:

• Have experience in food FMCG (preferred), worked within a fast-paced manufacturing environment


• Be qualified to HNC/NVQ Level 3 in any engineering discipline


• Be electrically biased or fully multi-skilled
