Job summary

BBF Limited in Hull is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to support our fast‑moving ambient cake and dessert manufacturing lines. You will perform fault finding, preventative maintenance and improvements to maximise equipment reliability and production uptime, working across electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

The role operates on a rotating shift pattern (6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm, Monday to Friday).

Qualifications

• Time served accredited apprentice or equivalent.
• Maintenance of Engineering Systems within a manufacturing environment.
• ONC or HNC in electrical engineering with mechanical training/qualification.
• Experience in FMCG environment, ideally food industry.
• Electrical/ pnuematic/hydraulic fault-finding capability.
• Knowledge of PLC‑ operated equipment and ability to maintain/monitor it.
• Ability to read, follow and amend engineering drawings.
• Computer literacy (Outlook, Word, Internet).
• Pro-active and positive engineering approach.

Responsibilities

• Complete fault finding, planned and preventative maintenance on plant/equipment to maximise reliability and performance.
• Carry out fault finding and establish root cause fixes to address issues.
• Maintain communications with operations to align engineering activities and schedules.
• Respond to internal customer needs to maximise production up time.
• Comply with food safety standards and controls in all work.
• Record stock removed from Engineering stores for accurate stock control.
• Complete necessary documentation ensuring audit readiness.
• Identify and suggest improvements for Health & Safety and operational efficiency.
