Job summary

ETS Consulting Ltd in Birmingham is seeking a Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a major packaging manufacturer. The role requires electrical and mechanical expertise, with hands-on PLC experience, automated machinery, and CMMS reporting.

You will work on heavy motorised and hydraulic plant, steam generation, boiler house operation, and high-pressure systems. Must be able to safely isolate energies and possess basic machining and welding skills.

Qualifications

• Electrical apprentice trained engineer with focus on electrical systems.
• Experience of PLC systems and automated machinery.
• Understanding of preventive maintenance (PPM) systems.

Responsibilities

• Experience with heavy motorised and hydraulic plant in rubber/plastics industries.
• Steam generation, boiler house operation and high-pressure fluid systems experience.
• Mechanical and electrical energy isolation across multiple sources (electricity, steam, hydraulics, pneumatics).
• Experience with CMMS and reporting.
• Able to work in heat and confined spaces.
• Basic machining skills (radial drill, lathe).
• Welding and fabrication skills (MIG, MMA).

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £55,818 + Pension + Overtime + Bens

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off 2 days/ 2 nights

The Role

• Experience of heavy motorised and hydraulic plant. Rubber and plastics industry with experience of rolling mills / extrusion / moulding / press shop.
• Experience of steam generation, boiler house operation and high pressure fluid systems. Experience with large steam boilers and steam distribution / high pressure hot water systems / process steam control.
• Mechanical and Electrical experience, ability to identify, safely isolate and work on equipment that have multiple sources of energy. Electricity, steam, hydraulics, pneumatics, large motors (1000HP or greater).
• Experience with a CMMS system and reporting.
• Must have a good degree of physical fitness and able to work in uncomfortable environment at times (heat, confined spaces).
• Basic machining skills (radial drill, lathe).
• Ability to weld (MIG, MMA) / fabrication skills.
