Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance across production and packaging machinery.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and diagnose electrical/mechanical faults.
• Fault-find on motors, sensors, conveyors, drives and pneumatics.
• Support continuous improvement to boost reliability and reduce downtime.
• Work with production teams to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and comply with health and safety procedures.

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Location: Peterborough

Salary: £53,500 + Excellent Pension

I'm recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established and highly successful FMCG manufacturer based in Peterborough. This is an excellent opportunity for a genuinely multi-skilled engineer with both strong mechanical and electrical maintenance experience to join a busy production environment where reliability, continuous improvement and teamwork are key.

You’ll play a vital role in ensuring production machinery operates at maximum efficiency by carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns and supporting ongoing improvement projects. This role offers a varied workload, exposure to modern manufacturing equipment and the opportunity to work within a supportive engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a range of production and packaging machinery.
• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing and resolving both electrical and mechanical faults.
• Fault-find on motors, sensors, conveyors, drives, pneumatics and associated production equipment.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
• Work closely with production teams to ensure machinery is operating safely and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures.

Requirements:

• Proven multi-skilled maintenance experience within an FMCG, food, packaging or manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding abilities.
• Experience working with pneumatic systems is essential.
• Engineering qualification such as an Apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent.
• A proactive approach to maintenance with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
