Job summary

MSS Infrastructure are seeking an experienced Multi Skilled Groundworker with Dumper and Roller experience to join an ongoing project in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The role requires operating dumpers and rollers, carrying out general groundworks and adhering to site procedures, RAMS and safety rules.

You must hold valid plant qualifications, CSCS/NPORS with CSCS, and a Thames Water Passport, with a Safety Critical Medical. Immediate start available and rate at £18.99 per hour PAYE.

Qualifications

• Must hold one or more of the following tickets/qualifications: Dumper and Roller tickets or experience.
• Plant Marshal qualification – CSCS or NPORS with CSCS hologram.
• Valid Safety Critical Medical.
• Valid Thames Water Passport.
• CAT Scanner ticket for underground services.
• Groundworks and civil engineering experience.
• Experience operating site plant safely around other operatives.
• Good health and safety awareness.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general groundworks and civil engineering duties.
• Operate dumpers and rollers safely and efficiently.
• Assist with excavation, backfilling, grading and ground preparation.
• Support movement and distribution of materials around site.
• Carry out compaction works using rollers.
• Undertake plant marshalling to ensure safe movement.
• Assist with site set-up, clearance and safe areas.
• Work safely with excavators, dumpers, rollers and heavy plant.
• Use CAT scanning equipment to identify underground services.
• Follow drawings, RAMS and safe systems of work.
• Maintain housekeeping and tidy work areas.
• Report hazards and unsafe practices to site management.
• Comply with Thames Water site procedures.

Essential Requirements

Candidates must hold one or more of the following:

• Dumper and Roller tickets / experience - relevant and valid plant operator qualifications.

• Plant Marshal qualification - CSCS or NPORS with the CSCS hologram.

• Valid Thames Water Passport.

• CAT Scanner ticket for underground service detection.

• Previous experience in groundworks and civil engineering.

• Experience operating site plant safely around other operatives and machinery.

About the Role

MSS Infrastructure are looking for an experienced Multi Skilled Groundworker with Dumper and Roller experience to join an ongoing project based in Abingdon.

The successful candidate will be confident carrying out general groundworks duties while operating site plant, including dumpers and rollers. You must hold the relevant plant qualifications and site-specific tickets listed below, as well as a valid Thames Water Passport and Safety Critical Medical.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general groundworks and civil engineering duties as required.

• Operate dumpers and rollers safely and efficiently in accordance with site requirements.

• Assist with excavation, backfilling, grading, levelling and ground preparation.

• Support the movement, loading and distribution of materials around site.

• Carry out compaction works using rollers to meet project specifications.

• Undertake plant marshalling duties, ensuring the safe movement of plant, vehicles and pedestrians.

• Assist with site set-up, clearance and maintenance of safe working areas.

• Work safely around excavators, dumpers, rollers and other heavy plant.

• Use CAT scanning equipment to identify underground services before excavation, in line with site procedures.

• Follow drawings, site instructions, RAMS and safe systems of work.

• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure work areas remain clean and organised.

• Report hazards, damaged equipment and unsafe working practices to site management.

• Comply with all relevant health and safety requirements and Thames Water site procedures.
