Job summary

Hunter Selection is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join a high-performing food manufacturing site in Harlow. You will lead a small on-shift engineering team, drive reliability, support continuous improvement, and ensure equipment uptime across fast-paced FMCG lines.

The role requires 5 years FMCG manufacturing experience, Level 3+ in Engineering, and electrical certification (18th Edition or equivalent).

Qualifications

• 5 years FMCG manufacturing experience
• Engineering Level 3 or above required
• Electrical certification (18th Edition or equivalent)
• PLC fault finding at I/O level
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, sensors, motors and inverters
• Excellent communication, initiative and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 3 per shift in a high-output FMCG site
• Perform reactive and preventative maintenance
• Support planned maintenance across production assets
• Ensure compliance with site H&S procedures
• Work with automation/packaging equipment (conveyors, robotics, vision systems)
• Collaborate with senior engineering leadership to improve performance and uptime
• Support training, skills development and contractor management
• Balance hands-on and hands-off duties per operational needs

About:

We're looking for an experienced multi-skilled engineer to join a high-performing food manufacturing site and play a key role in maintaining and optimising production performance. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in FMCG, food or packaging to get into a business who invest in the team, the site and you.

You'll lead a small on-shift engineering team, drive reliability, support continuous improvement, and ensure equipment uptime across fast-paced FMCG lines.

Responsibilities:

• Working alongside a team of 3 per shift
• Reactive and preventative maintenance
• Supporting planned, reactive, and preventative maintenance across production assets
• Ensuring full compliance with site H&S procedures (permits, RAMS, audits)
• Working with automation, packaging, and processing equipment (conveyors, robotics, weighing, vision systems, thermoformers, etc.)
• Working closely with senior engineering leadership to improve performance, downtime, and reliability
• Supporting training, skills gap development, and contractor management
• Balancing hands-on and hands-off duties depending on operational needs

Requirements:

• Multi-Skilled engineer with 5 years FMCG manufacturing experience
• Proven engineering experience within FMCG manufacturing, food or packaging production
• Level 3 or above in Engineering
• Electrical certification or qualification (18th Edition or others considered)
• PLC fault finding experience (I/O level)
• Good knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, sensors, motors, and inverters
• Strong communicator with good initiative and problem-solving ability

Good to Have:

• PLC programming exposure
• CI / improvement experience
• OEM liaison experience
• Health & Safety qualifications
