CV TECHNICAL LTD in Barnsley is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer to maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems on packaging lines. The role operates on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, including days and nights, with a strong focus on uptime and reliability.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, CMMS logging, and supporting improvements in line performance. The role offers career development within a major food manufacturing group and a stable permanent

Qualifications

• Multi-skilled maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or apprenticeship).

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Log all work and fault history on the CMMS.
• Drive improvements in line performance and waste reduction.
• Ensure food safety and hygiene standards on the production floor.
• Manage spares and oversee contractors on site.
• Coach operators and share knowledge with the engineering team.

Multi-Skilled Engineer

Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Salary: Up to £50,000
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off - 2 days (6am-6pm), 2 nights (6pm-6am)

We're recruiting a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer for a major food manufacturer in Barnsley. They supply leading UK retailers and are part of a well-backed national group. They offer long-term stability, genuine career development and a great work-life balance on a 4 on 4 off rota.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to line stoppages, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance to reduce downtime
• Log all work and fault history on the CMMS
• Drive improvements in line performance and waste reduction
• Work to food safety and hygiene standards on the production floor
• Manage spares and oversee contractors on site
• Coach operators and share knowledge with the engineering team

Requirements

• Multi-Skilled or Maintenance Engineer experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
• Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or apprenticeship)
• CMMS experience and good knowledge of safe working practices
• Able to work rotating days and nights

Desirable Skills

• Food, FMCG or high-volume production experience
• PLC fault-finding (Siemens or Allen Bradley)
• Knowledge of packaging lines, pneumatics and hydraulics
• 17th or 18th Edition, plus exposure to Lean, TPM or 5S
