Job summary

CV Technical Limited is recruiting a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer for a major food manufacturer in Barnsley. The role offers a stable, long-term career with scope to develop expertise on modern lines and CMMS systems.

You will repair mechanical and electrical faults, carry out planned maintenance, and support improvements on high-volume production lines. The shift pattern is 4 on 4 off (days and nights), with a salary up to £50,000.

Qualifications

• Must have maintenance engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or apprenticeship).
• CMMS experience and good knowledge of safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Respond to line stoppages, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Log all work and fault history on the CMMS.
• Drive improvements in line performance and waste reduction.
• Work to food safety and hygiene standards on the production floor.
• Manage spares and oversee contractors on site.
• Coach operators and share knowledge with the engineering team.

Multi-Skilled Engineer

Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Salary: Up to £50,000

Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off - 2 days (6am-6pm), 2 nights (6pm-6am)

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to line stoppages, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance to reduce downtime
• Log all work and fault history on the CMMS
• Drive improvements in line performance and waste reduction
• Work to food safety and hygiene standards on the production floor
• Manage spares and oversee contractors on site
• Coach operators and share knowledge with the engineering team

Requirements:

• Multi-Skilled or Maintenance Engineer experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
• Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or apprenticeship)
• CMMS experience and good knowledge of safe working practices
• Able to work rotating days and nights

Desirable Skills:

• Food, FMCG or high-volume production experience
• PLC fault-finding (Siemens or Allen Bradley)
• Knowledge of packaging lines, pneumatics and hydraulics
• 17th or 18th Edition, plus exposure to Lean, TPM or 5S
