Job summary

ETS Consulting Ltd is seeking an experienced maintenance engineer for a fast-paced FMCG site in the UK. The role involves 4 on/4 off 12-hour shifts, conducting preventive maintenance and repairs to minimise downtime on food processing machinery.

You will work with a small multi-disciplined team, carrying out PPMs, PLC fault finding and process control tasks, while ensuring a strong emphasis on health, safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Apprentice trained in electrical engineering with formal electrical qualifications.
• Experience with fast-paced automated machinery in FMCG.
• Strong knowledge of process control and PLC fault finding.

Responsibilities

• Minimise machinery downtime through preventive maintenance and timely repairs.
• Work within a small engineering team to support production managers.
• Undertake PPMs and record all actions for root-cause analysis.
• Coordinate with Engineering Manager to source parts and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental policies.

Job description

Continental Shift Pattern - Hours: 4 on 4 off days/nights, 12-hour shift 6am/6pm 6pm/6am (No Saturday nights on schedule)

The Company

Based within one of the UKs leading privately owned specialist food manufacturing groups, they are an extremely well established manufacturing group with over 50 years of food production knowledge, and they are looking to recruit an experienced maintenance engineer to add to their existing team.

Main Responsibilities

• Reporting to the shift Team Leader, you will work closely with the Factory Manager and Production Managers to ensure that machinery downtime is kept to a minimum and that all preventative maintenance is conducted in advance to avoid production disruption.
• Work as part of a small team of multi-disciplined engineers
• Undertake PPMs on equipment
• Action repairs and ensure all measures taken are recorded so recurrent faults can be recognised
• Liaise with the Engineering Manager and Senior Engineer to ensure the supply of appropriate parts
• Minimise the amount of downtime suffered by the site following machine breakdowns
• Comply with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures
• Champion H&S matters as delegated by the Engineering Manager
• Champion building maintenance as directed by the Engineering Manager
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and practices
• Strong Electrical and Mechanical knowledge and ability on Food processing machinery
• Process control knowledge.
• Competent in building electrical control systems from switchgear through to software implementation.
• Engineering apprenticeship and associated qualifications such as BTEC ONC, HNC, HND in Electrical Engineering is essential
• Have a proven track record in an Engineering and fault-finding role gained from within a FMCG environment.
• Drive Root Cause Analysis and strive to prevent re-occurrence with counter measures.
