Job summary

ETS Consulting Ltd in Blackburn is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer to maintain and improve food manufacturing equipment. The role features a 4 on 4 off shift pattern with 12-hour days/nights, and a salary of £48,000 plus benefits. You will work with a small team to minimise downtime and drive continuous improvement across processes.

Applicants should be apprentice-trained in electrical engineering with FMCG experience, capable of fault finding, and familiar with PPm systems and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Electrical control systems from switchgear to software.
• Engineering apprenticeship and qualifications such as BTEC ONC/HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering are essential.
• Proven track record in FMCG engineering and fault-finding.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a small team of multi-disciplined engineers.
• Undertake PPMs on equipment and ensure preventative maintenance.
• Record actions and identify recurrent faults.
• Liaise with Engineering Manager for parts supply.
• Minimise downtime following machine breakdowns.
• Comply with health, safety and environmental policies.
• Champion H&S and building maintenance responsibilities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of processes.

Salary: £48,000 + Benefits Package

Continental Shift Pattern - Hours: 4 on 4 off days/nights, 12-hour shift 6am/6pm – 6pm/6am (No Saturday nights on schedule)

The Company

Based within one of the UK’s leading privately owned specialist food manufacturing groups, they are an extremely well established manufacturing group with over 50 years of food production knowledge, and they are looking to recruit an experienced maintenance engineer to add to their existing team.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the shift Team Leader, you will work closely with the Factory Manager and Production Managers to ensure that machinery downtime is kept to a minimum and that all preventative maintenance is conducted in advance to avoid production disruption.

• Work as part of a small team of multi-disciplined engineers
• Undertake PPM’s on equipment
• Action repairs and ensure all measures taken are recorded so recurrent faults can be recognised
• Liaise with the Engineering Manager and Senior Engineer to ensure the supply of appropriate parts
• Minimise the amount of downtime suffered by the site following machine breakdowns
• Comply with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures
• Champion H&S matters as delegated by the Engineering Manager
• Champion building maintenance as directed by the Engineering Manager
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and practices

Requirements

• Strong Electrical and Mechanical knowledge and ability on Food processing machinery
• Process control knowledge.
• Competent in building electrical control systems from switchgear through to software implementation.
• Engineering apprenticeship and associated qualifications such as BTEC ONC, HNC, HND in Electrical Engineering is essential
• Have a proven track record in an Engineering and fault-finding role gained from within a FMCG environment.
• Drive Root Cause Analysis and strive to prevent re-occurrence with counter measures.
Multi-skilled in both electrical and mechanical engineering
• PLC fault finding.
