Job summary

WR Logistics is seeking an experienced Multimodal Freight Operator to join the Southampton team. You will manage shipments from booking to delivery, handling import/export operations and coordinating ocean, air and road freight to meet service levels.

You will work with customers, overseas offices and carriers, ensuring documentation accuracy and regulatory compliance. A strong background in freight forwarding and CDS customs entries is essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Experience in freight forwarding essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day import and export freight operations.

Multimodal Freight Operator

Location: Southampton

Salary: £32,000-£36,000 + Bonus | Permanent

Hours: Mon-Fri 8:30am - 17:00

The Opportunity

We're working with an established and highly respected international logistics business that is looking to strengthen its Southampton operation with an experienced Multimodal Freight Operator.

The Role

As a Multimodal Freight Operator, you'll be responsible for managing shipments from booking through to final delivery, ensuring customers receive a high level of service throughout.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing day-to-day import and export freight operations
• Coordinating ocean, air and road freight shipments
• Managing shipments from initial booking through to delivery
• Liaising with customers, overseas offices, shipping lines, airlines, hauliers and other suppliers
• Preparing and checking shipping documentation
• Completing UK Customs entries via CDS
• Ensuring shipments comply with customs and regulatory requirements
• Handling customer queries and providing regular shipment updates
• Working with internal teams to ensure shipments move efficiently and to agreed deadlines
• Monitoring costs, charges and invoicing
• Building strong working relationships with customers and suppliers

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who already understands the fundamentals of freight forwarding and can confidently manage their own shipments.

Essential:

• Previous experience within freight forwarding
• Strong import operations experience
• Hands-on experience completing Customs entries via CDS
• Good understanding of the end-to-end freight forwarding process
• Experience using CargoWise or a similar freight forwarding system
