Job Description

This role is categorized as onsite, requiring the successful candidate to report to Concord, NC on a full-time basis.

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Processing Engineer to join the Aero Innovation team within the Motorsports Aerodynamic Department. Your primary responsibility will be to develop complex data pipelines and data-processing systems that enhance our aerodynamics development activities for motorsport and high-performance production vehicles. You will be at the forefront of designing, developing, and optimizing solutions to tackle challenging technical obstacles, contributing significantly to our competitiveness.

Joining GM's Motorsports Organization will provide valuable experience and exposure, allowing you to showcase your talents, apply your skills, drive innovation, and connect lessons from racing to production vehicles. You will collaborate cross-functionally to help shape the future of motorsports.

What You’ll Do
  1. Architect, design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  2. Collaborate with data engineers and other teams to integrate data from various sources, including on-premises and cloud databases, data lakes, APIs, and third-party vendors.
  3. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and quality through automated validation and monitoring.
  4. Identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in data workflows.
  5. Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into data solutions.
  6. Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
  7. Prepare and present technical reports and specifications to stakeholders.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years in data engineering, processing, or related industry.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, Java.
  • Experience with Kafka, Flink, Databricks.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems like SLURM, LSF.
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases (SQL, MongoDB).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent collaboration skills.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in relevant fields.
  • Experience in motorsports industry.
  • Knowledge of data governance, HPC architecture, instrumentation, and Data Acquisition systems.
  • Experience with live streaming data pipelines and aerodynamic testing.
