This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring the successful candidate to report to Concord, NC three times per week at minimum.

The Role

We are seeking a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance our motorsports program by optimizing our simulation toolchain across GM Motorsports-supported series. The primary goal is to provide engineering support to improve on-track performance. Responsibilities include collaborating with race team members and support engineers on analysis studies using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations, developing and educating on simulation tools, providing feedback for simulation development, refining vehicle modeling inputs, and establishing baseline simulation settings for events. All projects should be completed to high standards, on time, and within budget. Proficiency in simulation tasks, proactive engagement, and a passion for accurate, efficient models are essential.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
• Assist teams in fitting collected data into simulation models.
• Collaborate with the simulation support team to improve and explore new methods to enhance the simulation toolchain and race team performance.
• Provide expert knowledge on simulation functionality and modeling practices to race teams.
• Represent racing team needs in the development of the simulation toolchain.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of engineering industry experience.
• 4+ years of professional motorsport experience within a race team setting.
• Proficiency with data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
• Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling techniques.
• Strong analytical, customer-focused, and structured approach with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment, demonstrating a strong work ethic and integrity.
• Flexible schedule with the ability to travel 10% of the time per year.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
• Proficiency with Dymola/Modelica within a simulation toolchain.
• Familiarity with software development tools like C# and Git.
