Job summary
Fortescue Metals Group seeks an Engineer - Controls for its Motorsport & Advanced Engineering team in the UK. You will design control logic, process telemetry, and develop MATLAB/MIL/HIL methods for high-performance electrical machines, with trackside and factory support.
The role demands rapid delivery across motorsport and defence contexts, with some international travel. The ideal candidate has 2–5 years in control software for high-performance applications, hands-on Simulink/ATLAS
Qualifications
- 2–5 years relevant experience in high-performance control software
- Experience in motorsport, defence or aerospace environments
- Exposure to HV systems and energy storage is desirable
- Proficient with McLaren System Monitor, ATLAS and Simulink
- Eligible for Base Layer Security Clearance (BPSS) and travel outside the UK
Responsibilities
- Process high volumes of ATLAS telemetry data
- Create plant simulations in MATLAB and MIL validation
- Develop robust control strategies for electrical machines under tight deadlines
- Occasional travel to trackside to support software deployment and calibration
- Provide live race or test event support and fault containment
- Write software requirements and ensure alignment with project goals
- Collaborate with the team to meet project specifications
- Support MIL/SIL and HIL testing
- Contribute to patentable IP and adapt to milestone-driven changes
