Job summary

Wigan & Leigh College is recruiting for a permanent lecturer in Automobile Engineering to teach motor vehicle engineering across practical and theory-based programmes. The role focuses on Level 1 and Level 2 delivery, building workshop skills and professional conduct with industry-relevant content.

Experience in electric and hybrid technologies is an advantage; enhanced DBS check is required. Applications must use the college form as CVs are not accepted.

Qualifications

• Qualification in motor vehicle engineering or related automotive discipline.
• Level 2 English and maths or willing to achieve within timeframe.
• Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.

Responsibilities

• Teach motor vehicle engineering across practical and theory-based programmes.
• Deliver learning, particularly at Level 1 and Level 2.
• Build learners' technical knowledge, workshop skills and professional behaviours.
• Use industry experience to make learning current, practical and relevant.
• Demonstrate safe and effective use of tools, equipment and workshop processes.
• Promote high standards of health, safety and professional conduct.
• Assess learner progress and give feedback to help students improve.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment, progress and achievement.
• Support learners to progress into further study, apprenticeships or employment.
• Contribute to curriculum development, including electric and hybrid vehicle technologies.
• Support open evenings, recruitment activity and college events where required.
