Job summary

Arnold Clark is seeking an MOT Tester at our Carlisle Hyundai/Geely branch. You will join a skilled team, performing MOT tests and gaining hands-on experience across a range of makes and models.

Responsibilities include identifying defects, maintaining inspection records, and providing expert customer service. A valid UK driving licence and DVSA-aligned testing knowledge are essential; EV training opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Qualified technician with LV maintenance certs.
• Solid MOT testing background with DVSA standards.
• DVSA Tester Certification and a clean driving licence.
• Attention to detail and customer service focus.

Responsibilities

• Perform MOT tests in line with DVSA standards.
• Identify defects and advise on fixes.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections.
• Provide excellent customer service and technical guidance.

About The Role

As an MOT Tester, you’ll be a key player in ensuring our customers' vehicles are safe and roadworthy. You’ll work with a skilled, motivated team in a dynamic environment, gaining hands‑on experience with a wide variety of makes and models. Plus, you'll stay ahead of the curve with the latest automotive technology!

Day‑to‑day duties

• Performing MOT tests in line with DVSA standards
• Identifying vehicle defects and failures
• Keeping up to date with current MOT testing guidelines and best practices
• Maintaining accurate documentation and records of inspections
• Providing exceptional customer service and technical advice

What We’re Looking For

• Qualified Technician – Minimum level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance certification (level 3 preferred)
• Experienced & Skilled – Solid background in an MOT testing role
• DVSA Tester Certification
• Team Player – Able to work efficiently alone or with colleagues
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Detail-Oriented – Committed to delivering high‑quality work
