Job summary

Arnold Clark in Cardiff is seeking an MOT Tester to join our OMODA/JAECOO Motorstore team. You’ll ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy, perform MOT tests, and work with a skilled team using the latest automotive technology.

We offer a competitive salary (£40,000–£50,000 DOE), generous leave, overtime, and benefits including private healthcare and employee discounts. Training to become EV‑accredited is provided, with opportunities to progress salary reviews yearly.

Qualifications

• Must hold Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance cert; level 3 preferred.
• DVSA Tester Certification required.
• Full UK Driving Licence required.
• Experience as an MOT tester preferred.
• Team player with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform MOT tests to DVSA standards.
• Identify defects and failures.
• Keep up-to-date with MOT testing guidelines.
• Maintain accurate inspection records.
• Provide customer service and technical guidance.

About The Role

As an MOT Tester, you’ll be a key player in ensuring our customers' vehicles are safe and roadworthy. You’ll work with a skilled, motivated team in a dynamic environment, gaining hands-on experience with a wide variety of makes and models. Plus, you'll stay ahead of the curve with the latest automotive technology!

Day-to-day duties

• Performing MOT tests in line with DVSA standards
• Identifying vehicle defects and failures
• Keeping up to date with current MOT testing guidelines and best practices
• Maintaining accurate documentation and records of inspections
• Providing exceptional customer service and technical advice

What We’re Looking For

• Qualified Technician – Minimum level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance certification (level 3 preferred)
• Experienced & Skilled – Solid background in an MOT testing role
• DVSA Tester Certification
• Team Player – Able to work efficiently alone or with colleagues
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Detail-Oriented – Committed to delivering high-quality work
