MPJ Recruitment is seeking an experienced MOT Technician to join an established automotive team with an extensive retailer network across the region. The role focuses on MOT testing, servicing, diagnostics and repairs to DVSA standards, ensuring every vehicle is safe and road-ready.

The salary ranges from £30,000 to £52,000 DOE with uncapped bonus potential and enhanced overtime rates. Flexible working options are available, and training and development opportunities are provided to support

Qualifications

• Previous MOT testing experience and DVSA standards knowledge.
• Valid Level 3 Qualification in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• Strong servicing, repair and diagnostic abilities with vehicle testing knowledge.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
• Able to work independently and as part of a workshop team.
• Professional approach to customer vehicles and standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out MOT tests to DVSA standards.
• Perform servicing, maintenance and repairs.
• Diagnose faults using specialist equipment.
• Report findings to Workshop Controller.
• Follow manufacturer procedures and specifications.
• Prepare vehicles for handover and record parts and labour.

Looking for an MOT Technician role that works around you?

We're currently recruiting for an experienced MOT Technician to join an established automotive team who have 40 retailers across Northern England and Southern Scotland. This is a great opportunity which offers a competitive salary, uncapped bonus potential, enhanced overtime rates and a genuinely flexible approach to working hours.

We recognise that one working pattern doesn't suit everyone, so we're open to discussing flexible options with the right person, subject to business requirements.

The Role

• As an MOT Technician, you'll be responsible for carrying out MOT testing, servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs to a high standard, ensuring every vehicle leaves the workshop safe, compliant and in excellent condition.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out MOT tests to DVSA standards.
• Completing servicing, maintenance and repairs.
• Diagnosing faults using specialist equipment.
• Reporting diagnostic findings to the Workshop Controller.
• Following manufacturer repair procedures and specifications.
• Removing and fitting vehicle components correctly.
• Completing vehicle health checks and identifying additional work.
• Preparing new and Approved Used vehicles for handover.
• Recording additional faults and repair requirements.
• Completing accurate job cards and recording parts and labour.
• Ensuring vehicles meet required safety and quality standards.
• Protecting customer vehicles throughout the repair process.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop.

About You

We're looking for a technically capable, conscientious and reliable MOT Technician who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and putting safety first.

You'll ideally have:

• Previous experience working as an MOT Technician, Vehicle Technician or Motor Vehicle Technician.
• A valid Level 3 Qualification in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• Strong servicing, repair, diagnostic and vehicle testing knowledge.
• Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on safety and quality.
• The ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively as part of a wider workshop team.
• A professional approach to customer vehicles and workplace standards.
• Relevant automotive qualifications and manufacturer training are highly desirable.
