Job summary

Monarch Education is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for morning sessions (8:30–12:00) to provide focused, one-to-one support for a child with speech and language delay in an inclusive primary school in Quedgeley, Gloucester.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo, applying targeted strategies to support language development while promoting confidence, independence, and positive engagement in learning.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children with SEND is desirable
• Understanding of speech and language needs and strategies to support communication
• A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents
• A proactive and flexible attitude
• Commitment to promoting inclusion and supporting every child to succeed

Responsibilities

• Providing focused one-to-one support for a child with speech and language delay
• Using communication strategies and targeted interventions to support language development
• Encouraging engagement, confidence, and participation in learning activities
• Working closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and wider support staff
• Supporting the child’s social, emotional, and academic development
• Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
• Building strong relationships with the child to promote independence and progress
