Job summary

Miquill is seeking a Relief Chef Manager to take charge of school catering operations within your area. You will lead from the front to deliver exceptional, creative food while maintaining profitability and high standards.

You will manage the entire catering operation, balance inspirational leadership with commercial acumen, and drive menu development, staff training, and compliance across multiple sites. This is a term-time, zero-hour role with UK travel between schools.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence for travel between schools.
• Proven leadership experience in a commercial catering setting.
• Strong financial understanding of gross profit management and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the catering team to deliver high-quality meals across schools.
• Oversee operations to balance creative menus with profitability and budget controls.
• Develop and innovate menus while ensuring health and safety compliance.
• Maintain full cost control over stock, food and labour to maximise margins.
• Drive sales growth through promotions and value-added events.
• Build strong relationships with clients and customers as the front-facing representative.
• Ensure compliance with H&S, hygiene and allergen regulations through regular audits.
