Job summary

RAC is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR division in the UK. The role focuses on planned, mobile servicing and repairs delivered directly to members, with no emergency callouts. You’ll perform diagnostics, safety checks and informed recommendations in a structured, predictable workflow.

The position offers a base salary around £40k with OTE up to £52k, guaranteed overtime options, and a full-time 40-hour week (Mon–Sat availability).

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience.
• 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing of vehicles as scheduled.
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• In-depth repairs normally done in a workshop.
• Advising members and recommending actions from inspections.
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
• Work is planned and structured, not reactive.
