Job summary

The RAC is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR division, delivering scheduled servicing and repairs directly to members’ driveways and workplaces. You will work on pre-booked jobs with the necessary tools, diagnostics, and support provided, avoiding on-call emergencies.

Expect a structured, focused mobile role with a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, and advanced diagnostics. Ongoing development in EV and diagnostic skills is encouraged within a supportive national team.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards
