Job summary

RAC is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR division. The role covers Hemel Hempstead and surrounding areas, performing pre-booked, on-site servicing and repairs with a fully equipped RAC van and advanced diagnostics.

Expect a structured schedule, no emergency callouts, and development towards industry accreditation. You’ll join a national service team with a stable 40-hour week, flexible overtime options, and strong earning potential through bonuses and overtime.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing of vehicles.
• Diagnostics using mobile equipment.
• In-depth repairs you’d normally do in a workshop.
• Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Carry out vehicle safety checks per RAC standards.

Skills

5+ years’ experience as Vehicle Tech/1

Full UK driving licence

Education

NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)

2+ years’ experience in the field
