Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician for a new division of the UK’s leading breakdown provider. You will service and repair vehicles at customers’ homes or workplaces, typically 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday with occasional Saturdays and overtime paid at enhanced rates.

Qualifications

• Post-qualification experience of at least 2 years in a workshop or mobile role.
• Ability to work independently and make on-the-go decisions.
• Customer-focused approach to servicing at customer locations.
• Must hold a full UK driving licence (max 6 points).

Responsibilities

• Service and repair vehicles at customer locations (driveways, car parks, etc.).
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tyres, brakes.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, braking, suspension and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostics software to identify and fix problems.
• Explain issues and repair recommendations to customers.
• Handle payments via card transactions.
• Keep up-to-date with automotive tech and repair methods.
• Maintain accurate service records.

Introduction

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

£45,378 (inclusive of LWA) OTE: In Excess of £57,000

Shift and schedule

Home based, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5pm with 1 Saturday per month. When working the Saturday, you will receive a day off in that week. Any overtime past 5pm or an additional Saturday, is paid at time and a half (£30ph)

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional - more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) customer selected location e.g. driveway, office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you'll need

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
