Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited seeks a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service, maintain and repair vehicles at customers’ homes or workplaces across Esher and surrounding areas. You will work 40 hours over 5 days (Mon–Sat) with optional overtime and a structured bonus scheme.

Essentially you must have Level 2 (or ideally Level 3) light vehicle maintenance, 2+ years post-qualification experience, and a full UK driving licence (6 points max).

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair as required.
• Minimum 2-year post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles at customer location (driveway, office car park).
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems including engine, transmission, brakes and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate repair recommendations to customers.
• Handle payments via card transactions.
• Keep up to date with automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via pre-booked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Location: Esher

Salary: £55,625 (inclusive of LWA) OTE: In Excess of £62,000

Job type: Permanent / Full time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role: Home based, working 40 hours per week, across 5 days (Monday to Saturday) 8am – 8PM, working 1 in 4 Saturdays. 1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional – more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) customer selected location e.g. driveway, office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you'll need to be considered for the Mobile Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
