Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is recruiting a Mobile Vehicle Technician in Bromley. You will service, maintain and repair vehicles, including EVs, at customer locations such as driveways or office car parks.

This full-time permanent role offers a stable schedule and strong earnings through base pay plus overtime and bonuses. The position involves a 40-hour week, Mon–Fri with one Saturday per month, and overtime paid at time and a half.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or higher (City & Guilds/IMI/NVQ or equivalent).
• At least 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Ability to work independently, follow procedures, and communicate with customers.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at customer locations (driveway, office car park).
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve complex problems.
• Communicate findings and repair recommendations to customers.
• Process payments via card transactions and keep records up to date.
• Stay updated on automotive tech and repair techniques.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role

Home based, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am 5pm with 1 Saturday per month. When working the Saturday, you will receive a day off in that week. Any overtime past 5pm or an additional Saturday, is paid at time and a half (£30ph)

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Technician role

• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What youll need to be considered for the Mobile Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, orequivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
