Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service, maintain and repair vehicles at customers' homes or workplaces as part of a new specialist division. The role is home-based with a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5pm, plus occasional Saturdays and overtime opportunities.

Excellent career progression and industry training are provided. You will diagnose and repair a range of vehicle issues, including EVs, keeping records and communicating with customers.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ or equivalent).
• Must have minimum 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles at customer locations (driveways, car parks, etc.), including EVs.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake inspections, and tire rotations.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems using diagnostic tools and software.
• Communicate repair findings and recommendations to customers and handle payments.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers' home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have the right to work in the UK.

Location: Burton Upon Trent
Pay / salary: £40,170 OTE: In Excess of £52,000
Job type: Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role
Home based, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5pm with 1 Saturday per month. When working the Saturday, you will receive a day off in that week. Any overtime past 5pm or an additional Saturday, is paid at time and a half (£30ph)

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional - more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customer's selected location, e.g. driveway or office car park.
Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
Payment handling through card transactions.
Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.
What you'll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
Must have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
A customer-focused approach.
Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.
