Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician for a national breakdown company. You will service and repair vehicles at customers' homes or workplaces from Derby, working 40 hours weekly with occasional Saturdays. OTE > £52,000 including overtime and bonuses.

Full-time, permanent role with clear progression opportunities. The role requires Level 2/3 in light vehicle maintenance, 2+ years post-qualification experience, and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or 3 light vehicle maintenance & repair qualifications.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.
• Customer-focused approach and valid UK driving licence (max 6 points).

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles at customers' locations (including EVs).
• Perform routine maintenance tasks (oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections).
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems using diagnostic tools and software.
• Communicate repair recommendations to customers.
• Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have the right to work in the UK.

Location: Derby

Pay / salary: £40,178 OTE: In Excess of £52,000

Job type: Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role Home based, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am 5pm with 1 Saturday per month. When working the Saturday, you will receive a day off in that week. Any overtime past 5pm or an additional Saturday, is paid at time and a half (£30ph)

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customers selected location, e.g. driveway or office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What You'll Need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands‑on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• A customer‑focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence max 6 points, no bans.
