Job summary

Octane Recruitment is recruiting a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service and repair vehicles at customer locations, including EVs, on a home-based schedule. The role involves 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am-5pm with occasional Saturday work paid at OT rates and a flexible bonus scheme.

Salary ranges from £40,170 to over £57,000 with pension, life cover and career progression. Overtime and car salary sacrifice options are available after 12 months.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence (max 6 points, no bans).

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles at customer locations such as driveways or car parks.
• Perform routine maintenance like oil changes, tire rotations and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair issues including engine, transmission, brakes and electrical faults.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve complex problems.
• Communicate repair recommendations to customers and handle payments.
• Keep records of work and stay up-to-date with automotive technology.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Location:Walsall

Pay / salary:£40,170 (inclusive of LWA) OTE: In Excess of £57,000

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role

• Home based, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5pm with 1 Saturday per month. When working the Saturday, you will receive a day off in that week. Any overtime past 5pm or an additional Saturday, is paid at time and a half (£30ph)

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional - more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) customer selected location e.g. driveway, office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you'll need to be considered for the Mobile Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, orequivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
