Job summary

National Breakdown Company is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service and repair vehicles at customer locations, including EVs, with prebooked appointments.

You will work 40 hours across 5 days (Mon-Fri 8am-5pm) with optional overtime and one in four Saturdays. Role offers career progression, pension, life cover and vehicle salary sacrifice options after 12 months.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or Level 3 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (qualifications listed).
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points; no bans.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair vehicles at customer locations, including EVs.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations and brake checks.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify and fix complex problems.
• Explain issues and repair options to customers.
• Maintain records of work performed and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Job type: Permanent / Full time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Home based, working 40 hours per week, across 5 days (Monday to Friday) 8am – 5pm, working 1 in 4 Saturdays (You get a day off in the week for every Saturday).

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional – more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) customer selected location e.g. driveway, office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you’ll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
