Job summary

Veolia is seeking a maintenance engineer to cover Hull and East Yorkshire with a focus on standby and preventative maintenance across industrial sites. The role involves travel between sites to service steam boilers and effluent treatment systems, ensuring compliance and high safety standards.

You will liaise with contractors and contribute to continuous improvement within the team. The ideal candidate holds an HNC/ONC in mechanical or electrical fields, has experience with steam boilers, IOSH

Qualifications

• Proven problem solving and adaptability in industrial settings.
• Willingness to develop through targeted training.
• Full clean UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on effluent treatment, steam boilers, and district heating sites across East Yorkshire.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers during planned services.
• Ensure all contractual service expectations are met for customers.
• Review on-site documentation (risk assessments, method statements, SOPs, COSHH, SDS).
• Work with supervisors to ensure statutory maintenance compliance at sites.
• Participate in monthly engineering meetings to drive continuous area improvements.
• Report near misses and safety concerns to support a strong HSE culture.

Up to £37,000 per annum (experience dependant) plus company vehicle and Veolia benefits

Hours:

43 hours per week, Monday to Friday ( 1 in 4 call out rota)

What you’ll be doing:

• Mainly based in Hull, but with travel between several industrial sites (Effluent Treatment, Steam Boilers and District Heating) across East Yorkshire to carry out both planned preventative maintenance and additional reactive works.
• Liaising with contractors and suppliers during planned services
• Ensuring all contractual service expectations are delivered for the customer
• Take an active role in reviewing on site documentation such as risk assessments, method statements, SOP’s, COSHH, SDS etc ensuring there are all up to date
• Work with supervisors and other team members to ensure statuary maintenance is completed and sites are always compliant
• Engage with and contribute to monthly engineering meeting to encourage continuous improvement within the area
• Helping to build a strong HSE culture by reporting near misses and safety concerns, supporting supervisors to investigate and close out any actions

What we’re looking for:

• Qualified to HNC or ONC level (mechanical or electrical) preferred
• Previous experience with steam boilers and industrial effluent treatment (DAF Plants) beneficial
• Health & Safety awareness qualification (IOSH)
• Gas Safe, BOAS and IEE 18th Edition would be beneficial, but can also be trained on the job
• Willingness to develop and upskill through targeted training
• Strong problem solving ability and adaptability
• Full clean UK driving licence
