St Gemma’s Hospice in Leeds is seeking a flexible, adaptable Retail Mobile Shop Manager to provide cover across 27 shops. You’ll lead teams, manage day-to-day operations, and maintain standards while visiting each shop.
A full UK driving licence is essential as you will travel to shops across Leeds; organisation, customer service, stock presentation, and Gift Aid are key. This role demands energy and the ability to adapt quickly.
For almost 50 years, St Gemma’s Hospice has been supporting local people and families across Leeds with expert, compassionate care. As Yorkshire’s largest hospice charity, we rely on our amazing community to help make a real difference every day. Our Retail Team is at the heart of that community. With 27 vibrant shops across Leeds, we turn donated stock into vital funds that help us continue providing outstanding care. Join us and use your retail skills for something bigger. Whether you’re passionate about pre-loved fashion, customer service, merchandising or leading a team, every sale you make helps support local people when they need it most. Plus, you'll be part of a friendly, committed team that knows how to work hard, have fun, and make a difference.
We’re looking for a flexible, adaptable and confident retail manager to join our team as Mobile Shop Manager, providing cover across all 27 of our shops in Leeds. No two shops are the same, and you’ll need to quickly adapt to different teams, volunteers, shop layouts and ways of working, while providing consistency and continuity in the absence of the usual Shop Manager.
The purpose of this role is to provide management cover across our shops during periods of annual leave, sickness and other planned or unplanned absences. You’ll step into different shops, often at short notice, and take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the shop, leading the team and supporting volunteers while maintaining the standards and ways of working already established by the Shop Manager.
Every shop has its own character, team and volunteer community. You’ll need to be someone who can walk into an unfamiliar environment, quickly build rapport, understand how the shop operates and provide confident leadership without unnecessarily changing the way things are done. You’ll be a calm, reliable and adaptable presence who can keep things running smoothly and ensure our shops continue to perform at their best.
The role will also provide opportunities to support other areas of our Retail Team, including new shop openings, the Donation Centre and other retail projects, depending on business needs.
A full UK driving licence is essential due to the requirement to travel between our shops across Leeds.
This post involves regular physical activity, including moving and handling donated stock.
