Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a Roadside Technician based in York to provide field-based roadside assistance for a national breakdown company. The role offers a strong salary with overtime, bonus opportunities, and clear career progression paths.

You will work 40 hours weekly, 6am–12am, Monday to Sunday, with shifts planned a year in advance. A full UK driving licence and relevant qualifications are essential.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair (minimum).
• Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification preferred (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ or equivalent).
• Two years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, in workshop or mobile role.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.
