Job summary

Octane Recruitment is recruiting a Roadside Technician (field-based) for a national breakdown company, based in York. You will attend roadside breakdowns, diagnose faults and perform mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside.

The role is full-time, 40 hours weekly, with overtime opportunities and a base salary of £36,400, with OTE exceeding £60k. A Level 2 (Level 3 preferred) in light vehicle maintenance and repair plus a full UK driving licence are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair; Level 3 preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.
