Job summary

Smart Solutions is recruiting a skilled Mobile Plant Operator for a busy waste and recycling site in Barking. The role involves operating heavy mobile plant across loading, sorting and vehicle loading tasks with safety as a priority.

You will work Monday to Friday, 12:00pm–10:00pm, with enhanced overtime on weekends. Successful candidates must hold NPORS/CPCS and be able to complete site training before operation.

Qualifications

• Previous heavy plant experience is essential.
• Experience operating Loading Shovel and 360 Excavator/Grab.
• Valid NPORS or CPCS certification.
• RoRo equipment and articulated trailer shunting is advantageous.
• Waste and recycling experience preferred.
• Able to work safely in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate Loading Shovel and 360 Grab Material Handler.
• Load articulated and curtain-side vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Operate RoRo equipment and shunter with articulated trailer where required.
• Sort and transfer waste materials around the site.
• Load bulk waste vehicles and collect waste from processing lines.
• Inspect incoming waste and place materials in correct locations.
• Assist with traffic management within tipping hall.
• Maintain safe and clean working areas.
• Complete plant checks and report defects.
• Record weighbridge transactions where required.
• Follow all site Health & Safety procedures.

Pay Rate: £14.62 per hour, rising to £16.04 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 12:00pm - 10:00pm
Overtime: Saturday 1.5x | Sunday & Bank Holidays 2x

Smart Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Mobile Plant Operator to join a busy waste and recycling facility in Barking.

The role involves operating a range of heavy mobile plant to support waste sorting, transfer and vehicle loading operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate Loading Shovel and 360 Grab Material Handler
• Load articulated and curtain-side vehicles safely and efficiently
• Operate Roll-on/Roll-off equipment and shunter with articulated trailer where required
• Sort and transfer waste materials around the site
• Load bulk waste vehicles
• Collect waste from processing lines and load into skips or vehicles
• Inspect incoming waste and place materials in the correct locations
• Assist with traffic management within the tipping hall
• Maintain safe and clean working areas
• Complete plant checks and report defects
• Accurately record weighbridge transactions where required
• Follow all site Health & Safety and operational procedures

Important: Successful candidates must complete site-specific plant training before operating mobile plant. Until this training has been completed and passed, duties will include housekeeping, keeping operational areas safe and supporting traffic management.
