Job summary

Alecto Recruitment is seeking an experienced Plant Fitter / Heavy Plant Engineer to join a well-established engineering business based in Leeds. You’ll service, repair and fault-diagnose a varied fleet of heavy machinery at the depot and on customer sites.

This role offers up to £55k, a company van, Monday–Friday 7:30am-5:30pm, and ongoing training with a supportive employer that invests in its people; occasional overnight stays may be required when visiting UK sites.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, Heavy Plant Engineer or Agricultural Engineer.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
• Experience working with diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
• The ability to work independently and solve technical problems.
• A full UK driving licence.
• A relevant engineering qualification, such as an NVQ in Plant Maintenance, would be advantageous.
• Additional industry-related training and welding experience would also be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy plant and machinery.
• Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
• Working on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, pumps and associated components.
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs.
• Attending customer sites across the UK when required, including occasional overnight stays.
• Reading and interpreting technical diagrams to identify and resolve faults.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for keeping a varied fleet of heavy machinery and associated equipment in excellent working condition, carrying out maintenance, repairs and fault diagnosis both at the depot and on customer sites.

What We're Looking For

We’re keen to speak with engineers from backgrounds including plant hire, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, heavy plant or similar industries.

You’ll ideally have:
